November 11, 2009 Students It looks like the worst of the recent epidemic of flu has passed, leaving many of you fatigued and coughing. Remember, your health should come first, so be sure to get enough sleep, eat properly, and wash your hands often. Need Some Extra Help? Come see me during lunch on Tuesdays and after school on Thursdays and get some help if you feel that you do not understand the material or are falling behind. My door is always open to you and I'm here to help! All you have to do is ask... and for some more ideas about how to succeed in math, check out my study tips. Think Tank is Over, but... This week is the last of the official Think Tank. However, I am often in my classroom during lunch, recess, and after school, and I am always willing to help. All you have to do is ask!! Remember, it is your responsibility to stay current on your homework, even if you miss a class for whatever reason. Check the web site for the assignments you miss if you are not in class, and pick up the handouts from the crates in our classroom. Pre-Algebra We will finish the Field Trip (FT) unit in the CPM textbook this week and the test is on November 10. The unit focuses on integer operations and on graphing. Algebra We will continue to work on the slope-intercept form of a linear function and start working with how to solve systems of two equations. The Chapter 3 test is Tuesday, November 10. Parents Please check the website if your child misses school for assignments. Help your child succeed in math by monitoring their math journals frequently. If your child needs help, encourage them to look at the examples in the book and to think of how their homework is similar or different from the examples.
